About us

The library in Junglinster, an a.s.b.l., was established in 2007

In 2006 a group of book-loving friends in Junglinster approached the commune with a proposal to establish a local a.s.b.l. library.

They started to collect books for the library from friends, neighbours and people moving away from Luxembourg.

Junglinster Commune provided premises for the library in the primary school, “Loupescht”, as well as library shelves and a library computer program.

In 2007 enough books had been collected for the library to open its doors.

When the Centre Culturel “Am Duerf” was renovated in 2012, the library was invited to relocate to “Am Duerf”.

Thanks to book donations from members and regular purchases of new books, the number of books in the library has steadily increased during the years.

Several book reading events, for adults and children, have been organised with local authors throughout the years.

Volunteers

Everyone involved in the library is a volunteer and the membership fees and subsidies from the Junglinster Commune is used to purchase new books.
